The ruling therefore became final after the appellate stage closed the possibility of continuing with the ordinary appeal.
Estrada Gonzales, de 59 años, was described during the trial as the last link to be tried in the largest criminal organization identified by Argentine justice because of its territorial control and the length of its criminal activity. The group handled the introduction, storage, fractioning and distribution of marijuana, cocaine and derivatives inside and outside the villa 1-11-14.
- The organization operated in 28-day shifts. Piti led one shift and his brother Marco the other.
- The notebooks seized during searches recorded the organization's accounts by hand. In a single 28-day cycle, the brothers collected 958,000 dollars.
- The group controlled about seven hectares within the settlement, obstructed state access and maintained several drug sales points.
The fiscal general Diego Velasco sustained during the trial that the organization imposed its authority through violence. The authorities also established that, around 180 people were convicted in different cases for their participation in the organization.
Piti already had a conviction for a homicide committed in 1988 and remained a fugitive for more than twelve years. According to the case, he continued leading his shift from Peru with the support of trusted people operating in the territory. He surrendered in April 2023 at the offices of the Narcocriminality Attorney's Office, known as Procunar.
His brother Marco had been sentenced in 2020 to a unified sentence of 24 years in prison and later expelled from the country to Peru. Fernando Estrada Gonzales is serving preventive detention at the Marcos Paz prison. With the casación ruling, the 17-year-and-six-month sentence is now firm. The next procedural step is the execution of the final sentence.
